Bel Canto Choir Vilnius ranked as the No.1 in Lithuania

In May 2017, Bel Canto Choir Vilnius triumphed at the first round of the Lithuania’s major Choral Competition, thus retaining its No. 1 position in the national ranking of the Lithuanian choirs. Bel Canto Choir Vilnius received 97.7 points out of 100, the best result among one hundred eleven choirs in Lithuania.
In the first round of the Competition, Bel Canto Choir Vilnius performed ‘Anoj Pusėj Dunojėlio’ (obligatory piece) by Vaclovas Augustinas, Martin Gore’s ‘Enjoy the Silence’, arranged by Eric Whitacre and Billy Joel’s ‘River of Dreams’, arranged by Vitalijus Neugasimovas.
The second round of the Lithuania’s major Choral Contest is scheduled for October 2017, where only first category choirs will compete.
The Lithuania’s National Choral Competition is being organized every four years by the Lithuanian Choral Union and Lithuanian Folk Culture Center, and is aimed to assess the artistic level of the choirs and to select the best ones in the country.
Artistic Director of the Bel Canto Choir Vilnius is Dr. Egidijus Kaveckas. The second conductor and choirmaster is Milda Zapolskaitė, the choirmaster and concertmaster is Raminta Gocentienė.
