Bel Canto Choir Vilnius entered the New Year delicately and personally…
Bel Canto Choir Vilnius, Lithuania’s best volunteer choir, began the New Year by staging a cozy and delicate concert at St Catherine Church in Vilnius.
After two sold-out Christmas and 5th anniversary concerts at Lithuanian National Philharmonics on November 30 and December 1, 2014, which attracted more than 1 400 spectators, Bel Canto Choir Vilnius returned to the chamber concert hall of St Catherine church in Vilnius. The Choir, together with soloists Lina Dambrauskaitė, Jeronimas Milius and jazz pianist Artūras Anusauskas, performed a cozy chamber concert, entitled Bel Canto Choir Vilnius: Delicate and Personal.
For the first time after the Choir’s performance at the World Choir Games 2014, where it was awarded with a gold medal, the Choir performed the complete and extremely complicated Olympic programme, which included: O Quam Tristis by the Lithuanian composer Giedrius Svilainis, To see a World by the Swedish composer Sven-David Sandström, Neišeik, Saulala by renowned Lithuanian composer Vytautas Miškinis, and I am Here, a piece exclusively composed for the Bel Canto Choir Vilnius by Miškinis.
The concert of the Bel Canto Choir Vilnius also featured some of the Choir’s favorites of popular classics, as well as several musical premieres. The Choir, aided by soloists Jeronimas Milius and Lina Dambrauskaitė, presented its version of the famous Moon River by the American composer Henry Mancini, written for the motion picture Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1962. This hit composition received an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
The Choir’s singers, together with their friends, also performed the popular Broken Vow by one of the best-known Belgium singers Lara Fabian, the legendary Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and other great songs of popular classics.
Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Bel Canto Choir Vilnius – Artūras Dambrauskas; Choirmasters: Raminta Gocentienė, Milda Zapolskaitė and Alfredas Celiešius. Concert producer Audrius Valatkevičius.
